I'm a self-taught visual development artist, character designer, producer, and student, based out of Indiana. I've worked for 3 years now in a variety of fields across art. I am incredibly passionate about film and animation; it feels like a second language to me. As a scientist myself, I consider science and technology to be an integrated part of the artistic process.
In my work, I emphasize a blend of a variety of techniques, often using traditional and digital mediums with 3D software. I love dolls, toys, and traditional (and not so traditional) sculpture, and I often incorporate it into my design process. I'm also a hobbyist pipeline tool developer, and am comfortable coding in Python, MEL, and VEX. My background provides me with an in-depth understanding of the animation pipeline, from art to tech.
Right now, I am directing Knot This! - an independently animated opensource feature 3D film set to release in 2027, with a team of over 50 artists.
I am currently available for opportunities for work and freelance. If you're interested in working with me, please contact me at artofamiwells@gmail.com.
*Client work is not currently available due to NDAs but will be accessible upon project finalization.
Fun fact: I'm studying chemistry and have 2 years of experience professionally with the DNR and various other orgs in environmental conservation. If you have any artistic inquiries centering on science and the environment, I'd love to work with you! :)
